On Thursday, 20 June, ABN Group CEO Andrew Roberts will join dozens of other CEOs and leaders at Optus Stadium to take part in the 2024 Vinnies CEO Sleepout.
The CEO Sleepout is a national fundraising initiative held on one of the longest and coldest nights of the year to raise funds for people experiencing homelessness. Since 2006, it has raised over $91 million, helping provide accommodation, food, clothing, healthcare and other support to people who are struggling.
On any given night, over 122,000 people across Australia won’t have a safe and secure place to sleep. Some people will sleep in cars, couch surf or find temporary shelter. Many people will be outside, sleeping rough and exposed to the elements. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
The sleepout is cold and unpleasant, but it’s an eye-opening experience that really brings home the harsh realities of homelessness.
As the CEO of one of Australia’s largest home builders, this is a cause Andrew holds particularly important and will be his sixth year participating to support Vinnies’ work.
Making an impact
There are many ways you can support people experiencing homelessness and the work the Vinnies does, including:
Learn more and raise awareness
Visit the Vinnies website to learn about the incredible work they do for people doing it tough. The more we talk about homelessness, the more change we can cause.
We’ll also be hosting learning sessions for our employees to upskill them on this important topic.
Make a financial donation
You can contribute by donating through Andrew’s CEO Sleepout page. Every dollar matters.
A donation of $75 can feed a family for a day and $120 can help a family keep power on this winter. No matter the size of your donation, you’ll be helping change the lives of those in need.
Donate items that make a difference
Vinnies always needs items for people sleeping rough, especially sleeping bags, blankets, outerwear and backpacks that are in good condition.
We’ll set up spaces in our offices for our employees to donate items. You can also drop them off at your local Vinnies shop.
Please share with your networks
“My fundraising goal is not about me but about the difference it can make in the lives of so many people who are experiencing homelessness,” said Andrew.
“We raised over $43,000 in 2023 not because of me but from your enthusiasm, generosity and support.”
The more people we share this with and can get to support this important cause, the more lives we can positively impact. Whether you donate funds or items or just learn more about homelessness in Australia, thank you for your generosity – it is truly appreciated.
