ABN Group Employer Statement

Our commitment
Established in Perth in 1978, ABN Group has grown from one home building company into a market-leading group with over 17 companies. Our services include residential and commercial construction, land development, mortgage broking, financial services, custom kitchen design and specialist construction services.
Our mission to ‘deliver the dream of home ownership’ is only made possible through the dedication and loyalty of our people. We remain proud of our unique culture and the open, respectful, fun environment we work within.
Our culture and our people remain the primary reasons our employees choose to work with us.
With a strong growth strategy powered by a significant investment in technology, ABN Group is undergoing a period of transformation, the success of which will only be made possible through the commitment and dedication of our people.
Our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion is pivotal and central to our people strategy.
Our gender pay gap
The gender pay gap is the difference between the average earnings of all men and all women in a workforce. It’s a broad measurement impacted by an even broader set of factors. Our gender pay gap for the 2023-24 period is based on four sets of calculations: average and median base salary and average and base total remuneration.
As can be seen from the figures below, our gender pay gap numbers are above the national position but mostly below construction organisations of comparable size.
Average base salary
- ABN Group 20.0%
- Building & Construction (Org size 1-5K) 21.5%
- National 16.7%
Median base salary
- ABN Group 21.5%
- Building & Construction (Org size 1-5K) 24.6%
- National 13.6%
Average total remuneration
- ABN Group 37.8%
- Building & Construction (Org size 1-5K) 27.5%
- National 21.8%
Median total remuneration
- ABN Group 25.0%
- Building & Construction (Org size 1-5K) 30.1%
- National 18.3%
While ABN Group is doing better than others in our industry, we are clear that we have a way to go to meet our ambition of reducing and eliminating the gender pay gap at ABN Group. In addition to these numbers, we continue to conduct our own internal analysis, and we will continue to use this important information to address our gaps and opportunities for analysis.

Our Gender Equity Action Plan
Building a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace is a journey that we are on, and committed to. Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) strategy works alongside our Thrive Wellbeing Framework and aligns with our ‘drive to be better’ objective.
Gender equity is a core pillar of our DEI strategy and contains actions to address the presence of ‘gender concentrations’ in our organisation. As is the case across the construction industry, senior leadership positions and specialist roles have traditionally been male-dominated, while junior and individual contributor roles have been more female-dominated. It is our mission to address contributing factors and provide equitable opportunities for all.
We are proud of the progress we have made to date but acknowledge there is much more to do.
Some steps we have taken so far include:
- Developed a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy
- Implemented a paid parental leave policy with additional benefits
- Implemented additional support resources for menopause
- Implemented support for employees experiencing or affected by family and domestic violence
- Joined CEOs for Gender Equity, Menopause Friendly Australia and Diversity Council of Australia for support and best practice guidance
- Conducted a psychosocial safety audit and gap analysis, including inputs from our employee engagement survey
- Launched leadership development programs which include unconscious bias training
- Undertook a gender pay gap assessment
Key actions in our Gender equity plan
Key actions detailed in our Gender Equity Plan include, but are not limited to:
- Continue to review attraction and selection strategies
- Continue supporting awareness and education through our learning and development programs
- Engaging with employees to learn more about the barriers and challenges faced particularly by women and gender diverse people at work
- Deliver resources on mental health, family and domestic violence, menopause and other topics

As we move forward, we are excited for the opportunities that lie ahead for our employees, the community, and ABN Group.
